In my opinion sailfish are the best, most thrilling fish in the whole world.  Caught on light tackle the average sailfish is about 40lb (but they do grow to 90/100lb).  They are abundant off the Florida Keys in January to February and are caught predominately on live free lined fish baits.  Once hooked, they go stomping off across the waves, leaping and splashing for 100s of yards, and they truly do take some stopping.  All sailfish on our trips are returned alive, but there are many other species we can catch for the bbq.

We really had a great time on the keys this winter, the accommodation was first class, the fishing was excellent, and my guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The fishing reached a high in January when the sailfish and kingfish exploded into life on the offshore reefs. Mark Thaxter boated a cracking sailfish, and I landed a sailfish of a lifetime on my kayak!!

Mark, and his dad Chris took turns in playing and landing a remarkable 45lb amberjack, but my boy Guy stole the show with the most species. Guy caught specimen mutton snapper, yellowtail snapper, black grouper etc.
